Hi. I’m Jason. I’m a Realtor. Glad to have you here. I was originally licensed in 2004, so they tell me that was a long time ago. Along the way, I’ve seen and experienced just about every market imaginable. I remember the crashes of 2008 and the massive ramifications we felt in the aftermath of that. I’ve seen 30-year mortgage rates in the high 2%. One extreme paralyzed the market while the other created a multi-year run of some of the hottest real estate markets humankind has ever borne witness to. The point of all of that is that the real estate market is nothing but volatile. It takes empathy, creativity, flexibility, and mental toughness to navigate these waters… and maybe a strong sense of humor and a certain amount of charm couldn’t hurt either.
Things I love. My wife and son. Ok, ok, but that's a good place to start.... they might read this. I love the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I earned my black belt five years ago after about 20 years' worth of training. I started my jiu-jitsu journey in Las Vegas, Nevada, and never quit. I learned those two words, never quit, put together equal a sound strategy for winning. I might stub my toe. Maybe I will full-bore face plant. Maybe any one of infinite things can happen, but as long as one persists, winning is the only possible outcome. I learned from jiu-jitsu that dedicated practice gives you the best chance of success. Dedicated in my world means with intention, to win, I must practice with intention to improve and develop a specific area. This can't happen with general practice; no intentional practice is the way. Jiu-Jitsu has also taught me how to be comfortable being uncomfortable. Quite honestly, this is the essence of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and the most amazing skill a person can develop. Let’s be honest. Jiu-Jitsu hurts. It is truly the antithesis of comfort. Even being uncomfortable, I must find internal comfort so I can keep my head about me and work diligently to improve my position.
I also love guitar. I’ve been messing around with these things ever since I figured out potentials loved dudes that can play. Guitar is the perfect example of practicing with intention. I play a folky blues style, classical guitar, and flamenco styles. If I want to learn a song, I can’t be content with just playing whatever comes to my mind. I must focus on what I’m learning. I start by trying to understand, musically, what the song is doing and where is it going. Once I understand the flow, it is so much easier to learn the song. So the trick to quickly learning new songs is to understand both music (the big picture) and the music that is being learned (micro picture) on a deeper than surface level. Memorization is another way, and beginners start learning this way. I know I did that until I had developed a deeper understanding of music.
Wait a minute. I thought I was on a real estate website. I just wanted to look at properties or find the value of my home. Why does a bunch of jiu-jitsu and musical life lessons have to do with buying or selling a home or property? Well, my friend, you caught the tater. It doesn’t have a thing to do with the transfer of realty property. Instead, it has everything to do with the transfer of realty property. If you were looking to hire help with, let’s say, buying or selling a home? Wouldn’t you want somebody who knows how to best serve in whatever market conditions are prevailing at the time? Would it be important to hire an individual who practices, with intention, by studying macro and local economic conditions. Would it be important that our potential hire intentionally practices by analyzing trends, enabling that individual to help you navigate the volatile waters of the real estate market? Would it be advisable, knowing how emotionally involved people can become through the course of a major transaction, that our candidate have the ability to discuss matters that can be inherently uncomfortable in an empathetic and charming (I can’t help myself) manner, because that individual learned to find comfort in any situation? Would it be important that our potential candidate takes the time to deeply understand your real goals so that he (me!!) could put you in the best possible place to achieve those goals? So yes, jiu-jitsu and music have nothing to do with the sale or purchase of a property; instead, they have everything to do with it.
